Research will be given highest priority for the development of science and technology: Environment Minister
Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury opined that, research will be given the highest priority and importance in financing the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and the Bangladesh Climate Change Trust (BCCT) Fund under it. He said that research should be increased in the country to solve various problems, it should not depend on the research of other countries. For this reason, all support will be provided to the researchers and scientists for their research work in the development of science and technology.
He opined so while speaking as the chief guest at the program organized by Bangladesh Foundation for Development Research of University of Skill Enrichment and Technology (USET) at the National Press Club of the capital on Saturday, 03 February, 2024. The program was organized to greet the senior researcher of the Department of Chemistry of Cardiff University in the United Kingdom Dr. Mohammad Mazharul Islam.
Environment Minister said, this achievement of Dr. Mohammad Mazharul Islam is proof of the growing interest of the world community in the contribution of Bangladeshi scientists in the field of science. He said, Dr. Mazharul Islam's research work will play an important role in the development of our country besides enriching the knowledge of chemistry. The minister urged everyone to work together to improve the environment of the country.
University of Skill Enrichment and Technology Patron Dr. Kazi Khalikuzzaman Ahmed spoke at the meeting chaired by USET's board of trustees’ chairman Prof. Dr. M. Fazlul Haque, Bangladesh Development Research Institute (BIDS) former research director and economist Dr. M. Asaduzzaman and intellectual and columnist Dr. Monayem Sarkar and others.
